Obituary for Roy L. "The Chief" Adams

Adams, Roy L. "The Chief", 83, left this world on October 14, 2015 to stroll through Heaven with the love of his life, Mary Ann, and continue to enjoy God's blessings.

He was retired from the KY Air National Guard where he was supervisor of the jet engine shop. On retirement he became a liaison for the AG's Office to the enlisted men and women of the KYANG. Roy was proud to serve his country and at the time of his retirement, he held the record for the longest serving enlisted man in the state of Kentucky at just over 42 years. He was a proud lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion; Abraham Lodge #8, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Valley Christian Church. He liked to travel with his wife, family and friends and visited many VFW's, making new friends, sharing stories and beer with everyone he met. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed a good game of golf or cards with his sons and his friends. More recently, he enjoyed having friends and family visit with him on the front porch; his door was always open and the beer was always cold.

Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Mayfield Adams; his daughter, Barbara Sue Edlin (Tom); his brothers, Charles Adams and Lawrence Adams; his sisters, Etna Catherine Hardin, Betty Jean Dunlap and Thelma Lois Pannell.

Survivors include his children, Raymond A. Adams (Carlyn), Deborah L. Fischer (Paul), Charles Michael Adams and R. Lee Adams, Jr. (Lisa); 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Patsy Osmer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
