Condolences

Condolence From: Carol Avery
Condolence: Dear Tim and Sue (my "kissing cousin"), Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your loving family. We are thankful that your mom is finally at peace and healed. I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain the name "Chancey" to friends. I've also had the privilege of sharing how close our families were, even to the extent of being neighbors. We were glad to be a family to you; all those school days for us, Pam, Georgie, and Jimmy in the neighborhood as well as the sleepovers we shared. We felt so close to your mom; like a second mother to us, and certainly one of Mom's closest family members. It helped having her around to "explain" our tough dad. She was always ready to help with our car problems; we thought our "Aunt Chancey was hot stuff there at Colonial Chevrolet". Throughout our married life, Jim and I marveled at her steadfast devotion and desire to do what she thought was right with her marriage and her desire for your dad to experience a relationship with Christ. We are thankful that Christ was indeed her "rock" in stormy times, and now she is with her Savior and Lord.

Condolence From: Inez Poole Long
Condolence: My dear Susie and Tim,

Well....with a mixed heart, it is a fact that scripturally our praise is due for my sister's joy in store. In the words of St. Augustine "for Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee." Our hope, in addition to praise, comes from this assurance. I long to feel this reality in mine and your loss. So many joys fill my heart as I remember Nancy's presence in my life. It is hard to remember any important time that she wasn't there with the exception of her brother's passing; however, thanks to you, Sue and Tim, she was on her way to Norfolk to mourn with us. In this, may all your hearts be given the "rest" He freely provides. Please know, Timothy, Christian, and Joshua, your grandmother's deep love for you men. Perhaps much of your stability has come from being given lots of love in the growing up years.

Love to each of you,
Aunt Inez

Condolence From: Donna Poole
Condolence: Susie and Tim,

My heart is full of so many memories of "Aunt Chancey." Mom and I were just reminiscing last night about her being the one who took Mom to the hospital for her last baby. Aunt Chancey was the first, even before Mom, to see that sweet boy.

Through the years your mother's constant prayer for the salvation of Uncle Bruce baffled and yet inspired me. As a teen and young woman I couldn't imagine being that invested in someone's soul, especially someone who had betrayed and abandoned you.

In later years before her move to Louisville, I looked forward to seeing her on my visits to Norfolk and hearing Dad ask her every time she stopped by "So who got your business today?" when she said she had already eaten. I looked forward too, to hearing news on those three grandsons of whom she was so very proud.

Mom came to count on Aunt Chancey for clothes advising and hair issues. To me her stylishness as an aging woman was admirable. To think how beautiful she is now in the presence of the Savior brings me great joy. May your hearts and those of your boys, their wives, and children be at peace in His promises.

Much love,
Donna (always Donna Rae to Aunt Chancey)
